QURBANI / SACRIFICE:
We follow the Sunnah/footsteps of our grand father, Prophet Ibrahim (Khalil ul Allah) PBUH
We’ll learn about it in detail at Friday sermons and Friday night lecture after Ishaa Salah
In Sha Allah
Prophet PBUH firmly taught us:
“من وجد سعة، ولم يضحّي، فلا يقربن مصلانا”
(Who could afford to sacrifice, but chooses not to, should not come to our (Eid) prayer).
We’ve learned from the scholars of Sahabah RA:
Those who have to pay Zakah, it’s Wajib upon them to sacrifice
According to the majority of scholars, head of the household would do the sacrifice/Qurbani for himself or herself and on behalf of the whole family members
How to divide the meat of sacrifice:
The Sunnah is to divide the meet into three portions:
One third for ourselves, one third for relatives/close friends or neighbors and last one third for the needy and poor
Our holy mentor PBUH sacrificed two rams, one from his own, another on behalf of the whole ummah (us)
Saydna Ali RA, used to sacrifice also two, from his own and on behalf of the holy prophet Muhammad PBUH
