Assalaam Alaikum
Ramadan Mubarak!
A famous scholar of Islam, Ibn Ata Allah Al-Iskandari, said, “What has he found, who has lost God? And what has he lost, who has found God?”
Finding God is so much easier in the House of Allah (Baitullah), than anywhere else. “In houses of worship (mosques), ….. is He (Allah) glorified in the mornings and in the evenings (24:36).”
Building and maintaining this house is a privilege, an honor and a humbling responsibility. And with all due humility, I am appealing to you to help your Islamic Center achieve its goal of raising $200,000 this Ramadan. Give a little or give a lot. But do give something.
The year 2014 started with the arrival of our new spiritual leader. Imam Shamu Shamudeen has been an exceptional spiritual guide and a trusted teacher. He has ably teamed with our Administrator, Yildirim Sivar, to make our Islamic Center not only more accessible but also more enjoyable for all who visit. Going forward, we will be leaning on their leadership in further improving the Islamic Center both from a spiritual perspective and also from in its operational professionalism. I will work with the Board to continually empower both our Imam and our Administrator, helping them to succeed in their respective missions. A marriage between professional full-time staff and spirited volunteers will better serve our community. We need both. Let us together help ICNEF move forward to its next stage of growth.
From khutbahs and lectures to social occasions such as playing basketball or enjoying fellowship, the Islamic Center gives us a place to nourish our souls with the beneficial knowledge and a lifetime of relationships. The Islamic Center is especially important for our children. It gives them an opportunity to learn and practice their faith in a safe environment and helping them to become dutiful servants of Allah.
In Sura Baqara, Allah (Glorified be He) praises people who give charity for only His sake, “…but righteous is he who believe in Allah…and gives wealth for love of Him… Such are they who are sincere…” (2:177)
